MadeiraDream Monte – Funchal at Your Feet

Welcome to our little MadeiraDream retreat on the hillside of Monte in Funchal — just 5 minutes by car from the city centre and the coast, at an altitude of 380 metres, and close to a bus stop.

It is a peaceful place where you can slow down, enjoy the Madeiran sunshine and wake up to beautiful views of Funchal and its harbour. Although the apartment is located within the city, it is situated in a quiet residential neighbourhood.

Apartment 1 comfortably accommodates 3 people (or up to 4) and offers two comfortable double beds in two bedrooms, one of which is a walk-through bedroom. There is also a fully equipped kitchenette, bathroom, washing machine and, of course, Wi-Fi — everything you need for a pleasant and carefree stay.

Apartment 2 is suitably equipped for max. 2 people with 1 comfortable double bed (160 x 200) with a beautiful view of the city and the ocean.

Minimum stay: 3 nights.

But the real highlight is the large private terrace, shared with the second apartment for two guests, offering beautiful views over Funchal and its harbour.

It is the perfect place for your morning coffee, an evening glass of wine, or simply for sitting back and watching the city and ocean below you change throughout the day.

The apartment is located in a peaceful part of lower Monte, approximately 60 metres from the road. Access is on foot via a flat traditional Madeiran vereda, so you are away from the noise while still being close to local life.

A BUS STOP is nearby, and approximately 300 metres from the apartment, you will find one of Madeira’s most iconic attractions — the famous Monte wicker toboggan ride (Carreiros do Monte) — as well as the traditional restaurant O Rústico, where you can enjoy delicious local food.

The apartment is a wonderful base for exploring Funchal and the whole island of Madeira, while also being a place where you can return at the end of the day to peace, privacy, and a beautiful view.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
1. The apartments are comfortable and suitable for max. 6 people (both apartments in total).
2. Access to the road (street parking) is about a 60 m walk from the house. Steep parking, but there is the possibility to park on the upper road (small parking lot 30 m from the veranda to the house) or on the parallel road behind the steep one, which is gentler (30 m from the steep one).
3. Possibility to use bus transport from/to the center of Funchal and Monte (cathedral, sled start, botanical gardens).
4. Apartment no. 1 is not suitable for elderly people or very young children (steep stairs in the apartment to the bathroom - see photo).

What You’ll Love About the Neighbourhood
You will be staying in the lower part of Monte, at around 380 metres above sea level, in a peaceful residential neighbourhood where you can experience a more authentic side of Madeira while still being just a short distance from Funchal.

One of the things you will probably love most is the feeling of being above the city — with beautiful views over Funchal and its harbour, surrounded by greenery, traditional Madeiran houses and the peaceful rhythm of local life.

Just a short walk from the apartment you will find one of Madeira’s most iconic attractions — the famous Monte wicker toboggan ride (Carreiros do Monte).

There is also a traditional restaurant, O Rústico, nearby. You can easily walk there for a pleasant meal — just 300 metres from the apartment, along a mostly flat route — without having to go far.

There is also a bus stop nearby, making it easy to reach the centre of Funchal and explore the city without a car.

And then, of course, there is the terrace…

A place for your morning coffee, watching Funchal wake up, an evening glass of wine, or simply sitting down for a while and letting the view work its magic.

It is a place where you can spend your days discovering Madeira and return in the evening to peace, privacy and a view you are unlikely to forget.
